Watergate Complex

The Watergate Complex, completed in the late 1960s, is an iconic example of Modernist architecture in Washington, DC. Its distinctive curvilinear design, created by architect Luigi Moretti, breaks away from the rigid forms of earlier styles. The complex includes apartments, offices, and a hotel, all arranged around a central courtyard, offering panoramic views of the Potomac River.

The Watergate Complex is not only known for its architectural innovation but also for its role in the political scandal that led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. Today, it remains a symbol of both architectural boldness and historical intrigue, making it a unique landmark in the city.
